It is a perfect city.

It is a city that is free of crime, free of hate, free of chaos. It is a city controlled by fear of complete annihilation. A wall surrounds this city. Beyond it, an outside force, known only as the Trona, demands obedience. Every four days the city must deliver an offering to the Trona in order to escape their annihilation.

The nationals have never failed. Yet in the wake of the first murder the city has seen in generations and an offering that will be drastically short of quota, two men begin to unravel the secrets of their city.

One struggles to find the murderer, while the other fights the bureaucracy of the city’s system struggling to correct a shortage that could mean the end of the city and all life within.
